Effective for moderate cooling even at room temp
It was a 95°F (35°C), humid afternoon, but after 9 hours of brain-brutal hectic work at the office, i desperately wanted to sit outside on my shaded deck for a while. I put this in the freezer for 35 mins, then took it outside where I sandwiched it between my back and the chair’s back. Aaaahhhhh. Delightful! It kept the chilly cold feel for over 20 mins, just long enough for me to decompress. Gives a new meaning to “chillax” lol.I normally have just kept it under my pillow, semi-folded, so that if I get a little hot, I can slip a wrist inside the fold for a little while to cool me off a bit. Un-refrigerated like this, it’s of course not as cool to the touch, but still is effective at pulling some heat away.

Easy, effective, and comfortable.
Thanks to migraines and bouts of vertigo I spend more time sitting than I would like. I have found this cooling pad to be a huge help for my daily comfort. It helps keep me from overheating, is a good size and thickness to be effective without compromising comfort. I have found that it helps keep me more comfortable during annoying hot flashes that can plague a woman in in 40s. It also has reduced the irritation from the embarrassing rashes that can develop during the hot and humid days of summer.

Not for me
This has a cooling effect but it’s not one of those essential items that you must have. I think you’re better off just investing in pants and clothing made up of natural fabrics that are cool and breathable such as cotton or bamboo. Plus, it looks kind of strange using this thing in the office. I guess you can use it at home, but I don’t think it’s worth the cost and the hassle of taking this in and out of the freezer. This doesn’t pass the cost versus reward litmus test in my opinion. however, is that you have a particular need that this fulfills then it might be worth a try.

Great for quickly cooling off after being in the heat.
Practical design. Not too big, so should fit most chairs. Folds up so that you can easily fit it in the freezer or fridge. If you can freeze it or refrigerate it, it will provide a nice cool down when returning to the office after lunch, or when you arrive at the office after a sweaty commute. Even without refrigeration, it feels cool when you sit on it. I don’t know how practical it would be for extended use. I assume that it is absorbing heat, and it is thin, so, presumably it can only absorb so much heat.
