I’m a fan of BabyTrend
First, I’m a fan of BabyTrend products. I’ve been using them since the birth of my son who’s almost 3 years old. They make quality products that grow/adapt with your child which makes them a great option that’s not only functional, but also affordable (baby stuff is expensive!). All that to say, I’m disappointed with this highchair. Sure, it was super easy to assemble. But this particular highchair’s seat is just a few inches taller than our current Graco one, so it doesn’t fit at our table. The overall seat is also more narrow, so fine if you have a very slender child. I’ve been looking for something that could also function as a booster seat of sorts since my toddler is now at the stage where he doesn’t want to sit in a highchair because he’s “bigger bigger, not a baby” but still needs to be strapped in or he falls because he can’t sit still due to him always moving (I wish this was an exaggeration). Assembled as a highchair, this one’s seat is almost flush with the top of our dining table. That’s not going to work. It’s cute set up as a toddler chair, but then he’s not sitting with us at the table. The legs make this impossible to fit on a chair (let alone there aren’t any safety straps to secure it to a chair, which I know aren’t provided due to that not being an intention of use for the seat). There are slots underneath the base of the chair that look like they would hold straps, so then one could (in theory) use it as a booster seat. But the base of the chair doesn’t have any non-slip grips or anything to help keep it in place or scratch up a wooden chair. Bummer. My kid is tall so the fact that this chair sits higher will be nice for him to use (with the tray in place he can use it for coloring or play-doh). The tray is a really nice size, that’s truly appreciated. Unlike other highchair trays that release from the sides, this one releases from the front, so that was a bit awkward, but works. I suppose it’s nice to be able to do so with only one hand. We’ll see how long my toddler does with this new chair. If he accepts it, it’ll be a win and we’ll keep it. But if he rejects it, it’ll have to go.
