Hydrating but Slightly Greasy Finish, I like Better as a Facial Moisturizer
The lotion comes in a pump bottle with a plastic cuff around the neck. I’m not entirely sure what purpose it serves, as there’s no protective seal or shrink wrap. The pump was difficult to get started at first, but once it did, it worked fine and dispenses a small, controlled amount without wasting product.The lotion itself has a thinner, creamy consistency. I do wish the full ingredient list had been available before ordering, especially since this formula contains several skin-loving ingredients like glycerin, shea butter, rosemary, and chamomile. Those are good selling points, and many consumers want to know exactly what they’re applying to their skin before purchasing as well.I usually apply body lotion after showering to lock in moisture. This one absorbs very quickly -almost too quickly, so I find myself needing to use a little more product to get full coverage. It does feel hydrating and nourishing, but unfortunately it leaves a slight oily or greasy feel on my skin that lasts longer than I’d prefer although eventually it does go away. There are quite a few oil-derived ingredients in the formula, so that may be the cause, though I can’t say for certain. Either way, that hydrating feeling lasts quite a long time, I don’t need to reapply until my next shower and I do love that.The added fragrance comes from natural essential oils and plant extracts and is mainly citrus and vanilla. To me, it smells mildly fruity, the scent is subtle and diminishes quickly. Overall, I like the lotion for its hydration and ingredients, the lingering greasy feel keeps it from being a favorite but its still usable and a good quality product.Update: I didn’t like the slight greasy feel on my body but this is an amazing facial moisturizer, especially for an overnight treatment. I have rosacea prone, sensitive dry skin and this lotion makes my skin feel so soft and supple without causing redness or breakouts. Slightly spicy scent, lightweight lasting lotion
I’ve used other Weleda products and liked them so I was very excited to receive this lotion. It has a scent I find hard to place but I really like; it reminds me of a pomander orange, sort of citrusy clove? It doesn’t smell generic or cloying, just a nice light unisex fragrance (but there’s definitely a fragrance, so it’s not for those sensitive to such). It moisturizes well- I applied it to damp skin after a shower and found it spread out easily and absorbed well, without stickiness or greasiness, just soft and dewy thereafter. The scent didn’t linger long but I do feel like the moisture held up – at the end of the day I didn’t feel ashy or scaly when I removed my clothes and put on my pajamas. It’s a pretty light moisturizer so I would need to supplement for extra dry areas like my heels or elbows, but that’s not uncommon- anything that would help those places, I wouldn’t want to spread over the rest of my body. Between the slightly spicy unisex scent and lightweight but long lasting moisture, I really liked this lotion and at $15, it seems well priced to me. I would buy it again.
