The flexible seals provide a secure seal. both with the cover as well as between the sections; and, they can be removed for thorough cleaning .To see how well they sealed, I partially filled the larger section with water, placed the cover across the entire top and vigorously shook the container. I got just a couple of drops of water in the smaller of the two sections, but it wouldn’t have been enough to ruin anything.
