Wonderful massager!
This thing works so well, I’m very pleased! I love that there isn’t a battery in it to go bad, so unless the motor dies, it will last a very long time! The amount of heat it produces is perfect, and I love how it has two sets of different sizes massagers. It has three settings that are very good, too.

Excellent help for pain and mobility problems!
This massage machine works very well. For my lower back, I sit in a recliner, place it up about 2 or 3 inches above the seat, lean back some, and turn it on. It has three settings: massage, vibrate, and both, plus a separate button for heat. I put it on the third setting and add the heat (which is not hard when doing the lower back). I lean back just a little because the muscles want to strain at first. As my muscles relax, I lean the chair back more, and finally after my back is relaxed enough, I am all the way leaning on it. It lasts about 15 minutes, and the directions say to not use it longer than that because it can damage the machine, so I wait at least an hour to do any further massage.The upper back and neck are harder, because it tends to slip down when I recline the chair or lean back. I usually have someone help me put it in place, but I use the same technique to lean back. I find that my back is always at least 50% better, with less pain and more mobility, after the massage is over for either the lower or upper back. This pain relief lasts most of a day, so if I use it two times a day, it is very helpful. My pain is from arthritis, so I don’t know how it would help other problems, but I believe it would be useful to anyone with back pain. I bought another one for my daughter, who also has back pain, and she loves it.I think if someone just leans all the way on the machine right away, it would be more painful, so I recommend leaning slowly while you get used to the massage.I also have the foot massage machine from the same company, and it works even better, so I have around 70% less pain after use with it.

Good but not great.
I had an old version of this pillow and honestly i liked my old one better. It lasted such a long time i think i had it for 7-8 years before it stopped working. This pillow does get pretty deep in the muscles i use it on my lower back and shoulders/neck and it works amazing. The only negative is it does shut off after maybe 10 minutes or less so you have to keep restarting. The buttons are also surprisingly sensitive I can barely lean on it and it changes the settings. The settings are massage, heat, vibrate, and vibrate while massaging. I don’t care much for the vibrating. I got my old pillow for $20 and it was a lot better quality. I wish they still had that design but I’d still give it 4 stars bc it does work for muscle knots.

My 3rd one over many years – I LOVE this for pain relief
I’ve purchased perhaps 5 of these in total — some for gifts, 3 ultimately for me (a spare at my folks’ house when I visited, 1 for home, 1 replacement for when I had my “home” one in extended storage).If that doesn’t tell you how great this product is, I don’t know what else can!Homedics is a trusted brand, in my opinion, and is one that also historically has stood behind their products.The best mode for me is the shiatsu massage + vibration, as vibration therapy has shown to further decrease pain signals. I definitely notice a difference, all with different sensations, while using the machine, immediately afterwards, and even the day following. It’s just GREAT! It has an auto-timer shut-off of I believe 15 minutes, so that helps to remind you not to overdue it with too long of a treatment with this device.However, this most recent purchase, only a few months into having it, sometimes it just stops completely. Not like near the auto-shut off time, but more like 15 seconds after selecting the mode I want.Definitely need to return this under warranty…but just haven’t made the effort yet. What I do know is that despite this hassle and defective unit, I will continue to be a lifelong Homedics customer of THIS PRODUCT!

My girlfriend was having constant neck pains (it stems from a trampoline injury in her youth), and it flares up during extended studying or lab work. Since I couldn’t keep up with the massage demands this was chosen as an alternative. Her particular interest was the portability and easy to store shape compared to some of the competition. There is a heat setting that can be added and an auto time off. There is also a vibration feature that can be used with our without the massage feature and the buttons are built into the pillow (like pillow buttons) making them really unobtrusive to the experience. The massage feature itself is very intense (it is made up of 2 large and 2 small hard balls that rotate in unison) and you can move yourself up and down and flip the pillow around for a different feel/intensity. This can real change the type of massage you get. After a little time we started using it on feet, calves, and thighs – it really is amazing how flexible this neck pillow can be. One of the best features is the strength of the motor, it seems difficult to bog down and can handle a lot of pressure which is refreshing when things are typically underbuilt today.
