At first, I was skeptical because I thought I would have to use a drill, but turns out, you don’t really need to. Also, when I was opening it, I was rushing it and cut ALL the zip ties, even the one I wasn’t supposed to cut before setting it up. However, even with that zip tie cut, it still works great. It is easy to close (even for a toddler), and easy to use for an adult. My dogs can’t get their heads stuck in it or jump over it (They are fairly large dogs though, so smaller dogs might get stuck. So it’s safer for bigger dogs). The length fits our hallway perfectly and is very stable even with the extender. My toddler can’t push it down and we assembled it without the caps you drill in the wall. And trust me, my 3 year old tried his very best to shake it down when we set it up and got trapped on the other side of the gate. We even bought a second one for our staircase since my infant is getting ready to crawl and is moving in her exersaucer. The only complaint I have is I wish the door would open all the way and not at 90°. The door at that angle can catch on things, like clothing, purses, and other things hanging. However, it is a small inconvenience. Overall, it’s a great product, and I am very pleased to how stable, easy, and safe it is.

This is an attractive looking, sturdy little gate. For the price, I thought it'd be flimsy, but its sturdy and has the audacity to open both ways, stay open, and lock when swung closed.
Its easy to install, but also easy to screw up. READ THE INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE CUTTING THE ZIP TIES OFF PPL! 😅.

Good gates easy to put up

This gate acts like a filter to separate a 30 lb mammal from a 6 pound mammal’s personal space. My dog was cruising the cat’s cat box for “snacks” quite a bit, and I didn’t believe it at first until I caught her all cute and happy with kitty little breath. To make sure the cat easily passes through, I removed one of the vertical rungs of this gate using a cordless reciprocating saw (like a small hacksaw as a power tool thing) and stuffed a little bit of white sugru (silicone playdough fix-anything putty) into the remaining hollow “stumps” to avoid exposed ragged metal edges. This way kitty steps through with minimal whisker stress, does her business in there and leaves the deposits where they belong, with no clandestine “doggy diner” drive-through access to worry about. Nobody has to get scolded or shamed. Let cats be cats. Let dogs be dogs. Let me go in there and use the restroom peacefully and anxiety free, no longer being shown the evidence of doggy “leftovers” from feasting on cat’s “residue.” I guess my Girl Scout skills are showing because I’m quite proud of the “mammal filter” I made out of this baby gate. Life is stressful enough without a baby gate. Got doggy cat problems? Get you this baby gate, a doorway, a reciprocating saw with the metal blade and something soft to stuff into the metal “stumps” at top and bottom of the gap left after you remove one of the vertical rungs. Bonus tip: Install the gate in the doorway first before removing one of the rungs. That way the saw can be used on the metal without the whole gate shaking around a lot from the vibration of the cutting action. It’s great. You can call it a baby gate if you want to. I call it a mammal filter. Humans can go in and out because we have opposable thumbs for operating the latch. And we walk upright so we can reach the latch. Cats can come and go, make their deposits in peace. Dogs find tasty snacks elsewhere. Peace and harmony maintained and we all win!

Gives you the option of installing with or without screws. Just check the max width. Height was fine for me. Door operation simple but the problem here is that kids will figure it out.
